Overview
Use this guide to make ShowBiz ready to send individual or bulk emails.
Finding out your email settings
The best place to find your email settings is to check the Email program you use. The exact steps will vary from program to program, so following is a rough guide using recent versions of Microsoft Outlook:
1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
2. Click on the Round "Office" Button near the top left, or the "File" menu.
3. Click on the "Accounts" or "Account and Social Network Settings" button.
4. If available, click on the "Account Settings" option that appeared after you clicked the previous button.
5. Normally there is only one option in the "Account Settings" screen, but if there is more than one, ensure that you've selected the one that is shown to be associated with "Microsoft Exchange". Double mouse-click the entry to open and view more details.
6. Make a note of the "Server" name and "User Name". In some versions of Outlook you can copy and paste these elsewhere (e.g. a temporary Word Document or Notepad) to save you writing them down.
7. Exit the various screens until you return back to Outlook's main screen
If you can't find all the information you need, contact your IT company and ask them for your "SMTP Server details for another program to be able to send emails"
Configuring ShowBiz
1. Drop down the "Utilities" menu
2. Select the "Mail/Email Merge Options" menu
3. Enter the SMTP Server Name as obtained previously
4. Enter the Server Port as 25.
Testing emails
What to do if you're still having problems
Follow steps 1 and 2 under the "Configuring ShowBiz" section to bring up the "Mail/Email Merge Options" screen, and try the following alternative settings one-by-one:
1. Set the SMTP Server Port to 587
2. Tick SMTP Uses Authentication and set the SMTP Username to your email address, and your SMTP Password to the password that you use to login to Windows
3. Tick the SMTP Uses SSL box
